The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) faced the challenge of replacing the superstructure of the century-old elevated guideway as well as five stations on its Market-Frankford Line while maintaining continuous weekday rail service. Gannett Fleming, as a major subconsultant, provided engineering services for the replacement of 11,000 feet of elevated guideway and three elevated stations for the project to increase traveler safety and comfort.

What We Did

Gannett Fleming provided structural, constructability analyses, utility coordination, traffic control, track design, geotechnical, traction power design, environmental assessment, station design oversight, and construction-phase services. Complex staging for the stations and guideway ensured that operations could be maintained on weekdays throughout construction. The new stations provide modern transit station amenities while integrating the facilities within the existing urban environment.

Key Features

  • Americans with Disabilities Act compliance enhances accessibility
