(Harrisburg, Pa.) On March 4, eight Gannett Fleming employees participated in Canstruction at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa., as part of the Pennsylvania Home Show. Gannett Fleming is an international planning, design, and construction management firm.
This marked the first time that Gannett Fleming participated in this event, which entails designing and constructing sculptures made entirely of canned food items. This year, the Gannett Fleming team was one of four groups from the central Pennsylvania architectural, engineering, and construction industry to compete. At the conclusion of the show, all of the food was given to area food banks and pantries.
In addition to the eight Gannett Fleming employees, the team also included individuals from Alexander Building Construction Co. and K&W Engineers. It designed and constructed a crocodile swimming through the water to “Take a Bite out of Hunger!” The team was honored for its efforts with the Jurors’ Favorite award for the sculpture, which was built using 2,500 cans and jars.
