Koontz Honored with George Warren Fuller Award

Gene C. Koontz, P.E.(Harrisburg, Pa.) Gene C. Koontz, P.E., has received the American Water Works Association's (AWWA's) 2009 George Warren Fuller Award. This honor recognizes an individual for his or her distinguished service to the water supply field in honor of the sound engineering skill, brilliant diplomatic talent, and constructive leadership that characterized the life of George Warren Fuller. Fuller was a reputable engineer in the early 1900s who is remembered for this distinctive personal characteristics, list of contributions to sanitary science and practice, and contributions to professional societies.

Based in the firm's corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., Koontz is a senior vice president with Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. As the national practice director for the Water and Wastewater, Environmental Management, and Dams and Hydraulics Practices, he provides coordination and guidance to a staff of more than 250 who are located in 25 offices.

A registered professional engineer in 13 states, Koontz holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Lehigh University. Active in professional associations, he is a member of AWWA, the Water Works Operators of Pennsylvania, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Environmental and Energy Council with the American Council of Engineering Companies, Environmental and Energy Council.
