
Adamski Named Chair of Water For People Committee

(Locust Valley, N.Y.) Robert E. Adamski, P.E., BCEE, F.ASCE, F.SAME, has been named chair of the New York Section of the American Water Works Association's Water For People Committee. Adamski serves as vice president of municipal infrastructure programs with Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm.
Water For People is an international, non-profit development organization dedicated to addressing global water, sanitation, and hygiene challenges. As chair of the New York Section's Committee, Adamski will work with partners, such as the New York Water Environment Association, and coordinate information and activities more effectively in order to increase financial contributions to, and involvement with, the organization. It is his goal to focus attention on Water For People's new program in the Dominican Republic. Adamski previously served two terms on the Water For People Board and currently serves as the organization's representative to the United Nations. Also, various Gannett Fleming offices support Water For People and participate in fundraising events.
With more than 40 years of experience, Adamski is responsible for providing consulting assistance to municipal water and wastewater system owners in the areas of facility operations and maintenance and utility management for Gannett Fleming. He is based in the firm's Locust Valley, N.Y., office. A registered professional engineer in New York and New Jersey, Adamski holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the City College of New York.
Active in professional associations, Adamski is a Fellow with the American Society of Civil Engineers and serves on several American Water Works Association committees. He is also a member of the American Society for Engineering Education, the Society of American Military Engineers, the Water Environment Federation, and the New York Water Environment Association. Adamski is a resident of the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, N.Y.
