L. Chris Shepherd, PMP, CVI, Gannett Fleming’s director of information and critical infrastructure security, was appointed to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Cyber Security – Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Guidelines and Technical Basis Review Team, endorsed by the NERC Standards Committee.
Representing Gannett Fleming, the only engineering firm engaged in any of the five review teams, Shepherd brings eight years of practical, hands-on experience in the implementation of CIP program development and cyber and physical security, compliance documentation, and compliance evidence collection.
“After working with standards and guidelines for years, I am excited to now be a part of the NERC process,” said Shepherd. “This enables Gannett Fleming to broaden our understanding of standards development and the thought processes behind them. Our energy sector clients will benefit from the enhanced knowledge as we apply experiences and insights to project work.”
Shepherd also serves as a committee member of the NERC Reliability Issues Steering Committee (RISC). He co-authored the “Electric Reliability Organization’s Reliability Risk Priorities,” a report of RISC recommendations to the NERC Board of Trustees used to prioritize nationwide regulations.
