Recognizing his outstanding service to the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), Paul G. Schweiger, PE, CFM, was presented the 2014 ASDSO President’s Award. Based in the firm’s Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, office, Schweiger is a vice president and manager of Gannett Fleming’s Dams and Hydraulics Section.
The award recognizes Schweiger’s dedication to promoting dam safety through his instruction of the ASDSO’s technical training program. A thought leader and trusted advisor in the dam industry, he has more than 30 years of engineering experience working on dams, flood control projects, and water supply systems. He has provided engineering services on more than 440 dams of various types and sizes, and authored more the 50 professional papers on dam design, rehabilitation, and safety.
“Paul is someone you can always count on,” said ASDSO President Tom Woosley. “He clearly has a passion for dam safety and represents himself, Gannett Fleming, and this association.”Schweiger holds a master of science in civil engineering from the University of New Brunswick. He is a registered professional engineer in nine states and a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-certified Potential Failure Modes Analysis facilitator. Schweiger is a member of the United States Society on Dams and a technical advisor for the Natural Resources Conservation Services Study Work Group.
