Mill Creek Landslide Repair Project Wins PDCA Award

The Pile Driving Contractors Association (PDCA) awarded the state Route 15, Section 144, Mill Creek Landslide Repair Project in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, the 2013 Project of the Year in the category of land-based projects with construction costs between $500,000 and $2 million.

Kessi Zicko, P.E., a senior geotechnical engineer based in Gannett Fleming’s Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, office, accepted the award during the 18th Annual International Conference and Expo 2014, April 2-4 in St. Louis, Missouri, along with representatives from the project contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc.

A total of 472 steel H-piles were driven along the toe of the southbound roadway embankment of state Route 15, to stabilize the slope. The project was designed by the Geotechnical and Highway Practices in Harrisburg.
