Members of the Geoprofessional Business Association recently elected Gannett Fleming’s Arthur Hoffmann, Jr., PE, DGE, to the role of president and chairman of the group’s board of directors. During his tenure, he will oversee the 50th anniversary year of one of the few membership organizations specifically dedicated to the business success of geotechnical and environmental professionals.
Hoffmann, who has been with Gannett Fleming for nearly 35 years, currently serves as a member of its board of directors, an executive vice president, and the director of shared services. He started the first geotechnical practice group in a regional office in Pittsburgh in 1992, served as Gannett Fleming’s first-ever corporate quality officer, and led the effort to certify the firm’s quality management system to the ISO 9001:2015 standard. As the director of shared services, Hoffmann oversees the firm’s legal, human resources, quality, safety, learning, and information technology services operations.
One of approximately 350 engineers to be granted the diplomate, geotechnical engineering certification by the Academy of Geo-Professionals, Hoffmann holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is past-president of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Geo-Institute.
