Gannett Fleming Welcomes Transportation Systems Expert Anantuni

(Phoenix, Ariz.) Krishna Anantuni, PE, has joined Gannett Fleming as a senior traffic engineer/project manager in the firm’s Phoenix, Arizona, office. Specializing in traffic engineering and intelligent transportation systems (ITS), Anantuni plays a key role in developing transportation systems management and operations (TSMO) and ITS solutions for Gannett Fleming’s western U.S. clients. 

Anantuni brings 25 years of experience in the planning, design, and management of projects for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), cities and other municipal agencies. He applies his extensive knowledge of federal, state and city design standards, guidelines, rules and regulations to projects for Gannett Fleming’s clients in the western U.S. These projects range from freeway construction to intersection improvements where Anantuni is providing traffic engineering expertise.

“Many interstates in the Phoenix area, and other parts of the southwest are increasingly looking for solutions to increase their capacity through traffic management. TSMO and ITS play crucial roles in delivering the needed results,” said John Derr, PE, executive vice president and director of the west region and transportation business line. “With the addition of Krishna, our Phoenix office is expanding TSMO and ITS capabilities to meet the traffic needs of valued clients including ADOT, the Maricopa Association of Governments, and Maricopa County Department of Transportation.” 

Anantuni’s proven experience includes managing traffic/ ITS projects with ADOT, the Maricopa Association of Governments, and Maricopa County Department of Transportation, such as preparing traffic engineering documents for design build projects on SR202L and freeway projects on Interstate 17 and Loop 303. He also completed the traffic signal design and development of plan specifications and estimate packages for the Central Phoenix/East Valley Light Rail Transit project.

Anantuni holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Osmania University (India), and a master of science in civil engineering from Arizona State University. He is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and is an active member of the Maricopa Association of Governments ITS subcommittee. 

Gannett Fleming, a long-time resident of the Valley, has played key roles in many critical projects in and around Phoenix, including the award-winning Interstate 10 Perryville Road traffic interchange. Gannett Fleming also has been a significant contributor to many upgrades at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, including Stages 1 and 2 of the PHX Sky Train®.
