Gannett Fleming hired accomplished professional Roger Giles, PhD, MBA, BSEE, as manager of power services and lead electrical engineer. Based in the firm’s Mount Laurel, New Jersey, office, Giles’ leadership and technical experience bolsters Gannett Fleming’s expanding Power Services Team, which specializes in transmission, distribution, and substation design.

Giles relies on more than 15 years of experience with utilities and consulting firms to support the day-to-day growth and management of Gannett Fleming’s power and utility business line. He oversees engineering design projects, often incorporating the firm’s electrical, structural, and civil services to bring projects to a successful completion. Giles is accountable for financial performance, quality standards, and project delivery, working to maintain the highest level of client service.

Prior to joining Gannett Fleming, he served as a lead electrical engineer for PEPCO Holdings, Inc., in which he had technical responsibility for designing and overseeing multiple substation projects.

His experience also includes managing a diverse portfolio of projects through the entire life cycle, including budgeting, financial forecasting, estimating, scheduling reviews and assessments, and overviewing civil, primary, below-grade, and secondary construction. Additionally, he coordinated with real estate, legal, and environmental agencies to acquire project permits and complete site plan approval assessments.

“Roger’s work experience and technical expertise give him the skills to effectively collaborate with clients and technical teams to deliver successful projects,” said George Campanella, PE, LEED® AP, Gannett Fleming’s vice president of power services. “I am confident he will be a key contributor to our commitment to deliver excellence to our power clients on every project, every day.”

Giles earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Drexel University, a master of business administration from Strayer University, and a doctorate in information technology-project management from Capella University. He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
