Two Gannett Fleming employees helped high school students explore the world of engineering at the 20th Annual Engineering Career Day at Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., on Feb. 21, 2013.

Co-sponsored by Marshall’s College of Information Technology and Engineering and the Society of American Military Engineers Huntington Post, the event gave high school students the opportunity to learn about different engineering fields. Sophomores from West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio gathered in Marshall's Memorial Student Center to meet professional engineers from local and regional companies and attend hands-on workshops.

Terry Downs, PG, Geotechnical Services Group manager, and Brian Greene, PhD, PE, a senior engineering geologist, both based in the Pittsburgh, Pa., office, represented Gannett Fleming at the event.

Marshall University professors, professional engineers, and the students all said they considered it a great opportunity to attend the Career Day and learn about the importance of engineering.
