Gannett Fleming welcomes Edward M. Davis as a program manager of utility services and environmental management. Based in the Baltimore, Maryland, office, Davis will apply his utility business experience and background in environmental affairs and sustainable development to support Gannett Fleming’s growing portfolio of work in the power and utility industry. Davis supplements Gannett Fleming’s environmental management talent while focusing on business development and project management for services to power and utility companies.
Davis joined Gannett Fleming following a 30-year career at Constellation Energy Group and its regulated utility, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (CEG/BGE). One of his notable accomplishments was managing the development of the company’s first formal environmental management system in 1992.
Throughout his early career, Davis held engineering positions involving land use, water, wetlands, and solid waste issues, and he led teams for the siting of right-of-ways and facilities. For nearly a decade, Davis led the environmental unit that conducted corporate-wide environmental audits, and he produced performance measurement reports for executive management.
In his most recent position as director of environmental affairs for CEG/BGE, Davis continued to evolve the company’s environmental management systems and led the corporate-level environmental group engaged in issues management, environmental disclosures, supply chain environmental principles, and sustainability initiatives. He also oversaw the environmental stewardship strategy, environmental awareness training, and partnerships and grants with local, state, and national environmental non-profits.
“Ed’s addition to Gannett Fleming elevates our ability to meet the environmental management needs of our expanding power and utility client base,” said George Campanella, PE, LEED AP®, a vice president and manager of Gannett Fleming’s Power Market Sector Leadership Team.
“With a wide range of environmental compliance, engineering, and technical services experience under his belt, Ed is poised to add immediate value to our client services,” Campanella added.
“I was attracted to Gannett Fleming’s rich background in environmental and engineering excellence, commitment to sustainable infrastructure, and steadfast dedication to top-notch client service and tailored solutions,” Davis said. “Working with Gannett Fleming is an opportunity to draw on my diverse skills and background to meet our clients’ evolving needs.”
Involvement in environmental professional organizations, business forums for leadership in sustainability, and energy industry associations also has been a hallmark of Davis’ career. Past leadership and membership participation includes serving as a representative on the Edison Electric Institute’s Environment Executives Advisory Committee; serving on the Electric Power Research Institute’s Environment Sector Council, Delivery & Applications Committee, and Energy Sustainability Interest Group; and participating on the Maryland Power Plant Research Advisory Committee – an advisory body to the secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
Davis is a graduate of Drexel University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
