The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recently appointed Aimee Corn, EIT, to the board of governors of The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), effective Oct. 1. She is the only member appointed by ASCE, serving as its representative to the SEI board.
Corn is a civil structural designer in Gannett Fleming’s Denver office and has been with the firm since 2015. She works on the design and analysis of concrete dams and reinforced-concrete hydraulic structures. Corn is actively engaged in activities within her community that promote engineering and serves as a member of the inaugural Connected Women at Gannett FlemingTM Steering Committee. She has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Seattle University and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Colorado State University.
Corn began her involvement with SEI in 2013 and is currently president of the SEI Colorado Chapter, winner of the 2018 Chapter of the Year Award. Her experience and passion will help SEI in its mission to advance members’ careers and technological development. SEI supports the practical application of cutting-edge research by improving coordination and understanding between academia and practicing engineers.
