Gannett Fleming, a global infrastructure and design firm, welcomes Todd Childress, PE, as the new Virginia Area Transportation Business Line manager.
“Todd’s primary responsibilities include spearheading a renewed focus on recruitment in Virginia, engaging with the industry to develop partnerships, and exploring opportunities to better serve the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and local municipalities,” said Art Barrett, PE, Gannett Fleming senior vice president and MidAtlantic Transportation Business Line leader. “Additionally, he will work to build the firm’s Bridge Practice within the commonwealth of Virginia.”
For the last 15 years, Childress served as project manager for many of the area’s significant transportation initiatives. He brings extensive experience in bridge designs across the state, most notably as design project manager and engineer of record for the Dominion Boulevard Bridges in Chesapeake, Virginia. More recently, he worked on numerous small and medium bridges throughout the commonwealth as part of VDOT’s statewide bridge design contract and served as lead structural engineer for the I-264 Greenwich Road Flyover, currently under construction in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
“These are exciting times for transportation in Virginia, with some of the nation’s greatest infrastructure projects happening right here in our own backyard,” said Childress. “I am excited to be part of these projects with Gannett Fleming as I have long observed their success as well as their commitment to clients and employees. I look forward to our future together.”
Childress has nearly 25 years of engineering experience and earned a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Old Dominion University.
