Sara Calhoun, PE, was named the treasurer of Intelligent Transportation Society of Florida (ITS FL), an educational and information-sharing group for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) professionals, corporations, and agencies. She has more than 19 years of experience in various aspects of transportation engineering and specializes in ITS. As a project manager and senior ITS manager in Gannett Fleming’s Tampa, Fla., office, Sara is responsible for projects that include the planning, design, and integration of freeway management systems, traffic signals, and Advanced Transportation Management Systems.
Founded in 1992, ITS Florida was the first formal ITS state chapter organization in the U.S. and became affiliated with ITS America in 1994. ITS Florida was named the Best ITS America state chapter in 2004 and again in 2011.
ITS Florida is one of the leading advocates for the deployment of technologies that improve the safety, security, and efficiency of the nation’s surface transportation system. ITS encompasses a broad range of wireless and wire line communications, information processing, advanced computing, and electronics technologies.
