The Baltimore Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) named Gannett Fleming the 2015 “Large Business Sustaining Member Firm of the Year.” The award was presented at the SAME annual Awards Banquet and Member Appreciation Event on May 18.
The Post presents this award in recognition of the firm’s efforts in maintaining and advancing the objectives of the Post. Gannett Fleming earned the award for the active service of the Baltimore, Maryland, employees on the post’s “Board of Direction” and participation in post activities.
“This award is significant because it recognizes our employees’ diligent work for the post over the years and the STEM outreach that we do through events like ‘Day with an Engineer,’” said Rob Scrafford, PE, ENV SP, a senior environmental manager. Scrafford is a member of the Post, and will serve as second vice president for 2016-2017.
Gannett Fleming also contributed $1,000 to the Baltimore Post SAME Scholarship Fund during the awards dinner. The post awards more than $20,000 in scholarships each year to college students and honorably discharged veterans who plan to major in engineering, architecture, or related disciplines. It also supports STEM education for junior high and high school students.
The Baltimore Post has 1,300 members and received SAME’s Large Post of the Year award in 2015. The mission of SAME is to facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public- and private-sector engineers, and related professionals, and by developing future engineers through outreach and mentoring.
